NARELLE GIBBS

Narelle Gibbs is a Brisbane-based mixed media artist with a Bachelor of Arts in Education (Art Major) from Edith Cowan University. Following an extended period living and exhibiting in Canada, including participation in the Toronto Outdoor Art Fair, The Artist Project, and the Toronto Art Expo, she returned to Australia in 2021, where her practice took on new depth and direction.
Her work is inspired by immersive encounters with the Australian landscape particularly within the rhythms of trees and foliage, where rustling leaves and shifting light evoke a sense of stillness and belonging. Through layered mixed media surfaces and expressive mark-making, her paintings explore the emotional and atmospheric qualities of the landscape. Colour and texture are used intuitively to create works that sit between abstraction and observation. Her practice invites viewers to engage with the landscape as a felt presence, offering moments of quiet connection and attentiveness.
